Fighting for our nation’s veterans

Thomas is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He is proud to be a voice for veterans in the Michigan Legislature. During his time in the Michigan House, he has served on the Military and Veteran Affairs Policy Committee and the Military and Veteran Affairs Appropriation Committee.  

Thomas was proud to support the creation of a County Veteran Services Grant which he continues to support through the budget. Additionally, he advocated for fully funding the new Grand Rapids Home for Veterans facility. He also supported increased funding for Veteran Service Organizations in the 2022 budget. Lastly, he had a bill signed into law that requires the state of Michigan to recognize time served in the military as professional work experience.

Our country would not exist today without the sacrifices our veterans made to protect our freedoms.  The least we can do is ensure they are supported and taken care of when they return home.
