sAFEGUARDING OUR ELECTIONS
The 2020 election has shown that it is critical to strengthen the security of our election systems here in Michigan.
This term, Thomas has supported many election integrity bills in response to the 2020 election. Unfortunately, Governor Whitmer has continued to veto any of these bills that reach her desk. In order to get voter ID requirements in law, Thomas is committed to voting ‘yes’ on the Secure MI Vote petition if and when it to the Legislature for a vote.
These are some of the election integrity bills Thomas has supported:
SB 303-304 – Strengthen proof of identification requirements for in-person and absentee voting and prohibit mailing unsolicited AV ballot applications (Vetoed)
HB 5007 – Provide free voter ID cards (Vetoed)
HB 4492 – Expand polling place locations (Vetoed)
HB 4528 – Provide training for election challengers (Vetoed)
HB 4837 – Prohibit 3rd party access to the qualified voter file (Vetoed)
